Tell us a bit about yourself:
My name is Shafaq, I am a Manager in Program Management team in the Cellular Product Center at u-blox in Lahore. I have been working at u-blox since September 2009. As a project manager, my main responsibility is to ensure our product development is done as per defined plans. This means working with various departments and teams spread across different locations.
When I graduated in 2009 it was the boom of the telecom industry in Pakistan. Working in the Cellullar technology at u-blox meant being part of building the technology of the future. It was my first employer after graduation. And I never left since, because from day 1 until today, I have kept learning new skills.
What do you particularly like in your working environment?
I have grown from an engineer associate role into a project manager and team lead. I feel u-blox and my line managers have helped recognizing my interest, skills and strengths for project management and supported me throughout these years. Apart from the necessary work and leadership trainings, I think the way teams cooperates here has helped me to learn from others experience greatly.
What I also particularly like is how the company values the need of maintaining a work-life balance. I am a mother myself and the support I have received from u-blox and all my colleagues throughout these years is extremely valuable. The main emphasis is on work output so that helps managing time in a flexible way. I think this supportive and understanding culture had really encouraged and helped me to work effectively during my pregnancy and continue afterwards.
How would you describe your working environment in a few words?
Supportive, professional, safe, and providing equal opportunity for all. Despite the spread across multiple locations, it feels being part of one big team.
